Salt of the Earth

I normally would not highlight one particular donor. IFC has the best partners, and we appreciate all of them. We have some who have lovingly given to our work since our origins. That is over 13 years of regular support.  Just when we need the support, it seems like someone remembers us with a perfectly timed gift.  IFC needs the support to continue the worthwhile programs we are committed to provide. We really feel blessed to have these amazing people standing with us. That is why I just wanted to focus on a recent donor. She is extraordinary; you would never expect her to even have a savings account. She is developmentally handicapped and was adopted by an amazing and compassionate woman. I so admire her mother and think of her as one of the true heroes among us. That brings me to the donation. I was not just stunned but astounded at the gift she gave to the work of IFC. She wanted to give to help the people we are assisting. She gave out of her own need. How awesome and breathtaking to receive her gift.  We have an open door to serve the developmentally handicapped and want to use her gift to help a child who needs special care.

We are in a challenging time; we are building an elementary school. In November, we will start the construction of the first building on the new school site. The school will be the pathway to a bright future for hundreds of children. We have a growing HIV/AIDS problem in the region we serve. It is taking everything we have to provide compassionate care to those suffering the results of HIV/AIDS. We continue our normal medical work and the care of 55 children. There is so much to do, and we are stretched in almost every way. It is an honor to be in the right place to help the poor and relieve suffering of the sick. This beautiful young woman made me think about how blessed we are to have the true “salt of the earth” standing quietly and humbly with us. She may not ever see the results of her gift, but she is making a difference for someone. I want to give her a standing ovation.
