Rotary Partners

The sky was brilliant blue and the snow and ice was melting. You could see the hope of change on the faces of the residence of Fairbanks. The spring seems to thaw more than snow. Today was a good day to express thanks to the gathering of Fairbanks Rotarian’s. Esther Scarborough spoke for IFC/Hohidiai as she highlighted the clean water project that this Rotary Club helped finance. The question we all asked was, how could a group in the arctic help a poverty stricken region on the tropics. It means so much to know good people do care about their fellow man.

The platform holds large water tanks at the IFC/Hohidiai  base in Indonesia just one degree north of the equator. Those tanks are full of clean potable water. The clean water is essential to maintaining health and provides the medical work a needed resource. The local villagers also come to our base and fill jugs with this clean water–it is a gift to many.  We can only thank the kindness and compassion of the members of Fairbanks Rotary. A gift from the arctic brings health to the poor in the tropics.
