IFC US
IFC US is an American based aid organization that has been providing assistance to the poor and displaced people in Sulawesi and North Maluku since 2000. IFC seeks to improve the health and future of the people of these regions. In 2004 the purchase of 75 acres on the island of Halmahera was made for a medical base. Since then the base has been developed into a place of care and hope.
- There is a clinic that sees 10,000 patients a year. We provide free care to the poor—medical, dental and eye care.
- An in-patient facility has been built. It has 16 beds and a birthing center.
IFC organizes medical and dental professionals in short term teams to join our aid work.
- We opened a Children’s Home where we are now caring for 27 children. These are abandoned or orphaned children.
- We have a leprosy treatment center. Leprosy has infected many in these islands and they can come to our base and receive long-term care.
- IFC is training medical workers every year. This is very basic training but provide substantial help to the sick in the region.
- IFC seeks care for severe cases. We provide funds for surgeries in Manado or other hospitals in Indonesia. In rare cases we will seek medical experts in America or Australia to treat the most severe injuries.
- We believe in the Indonesian staff we have and are placing several of them in higher education. We now have two in Medical School, six in nursing training, two as widwives, two dental students and one pharmacist. We desire to turn the work over to a trained staff in the future.
- We provide expert training for our staff by bringing skilled trainers to Indonesia.
We are also developing self-sustaining programs.
IFC is providing an answer to the suffering and needs of the poor in this remote region of Indonesia. It is a pleasure to show compassion and mercy to those who are injured or suffer from diseases.
