Mosquito
Nets for Refugees
Christian
refugees on the East Indonesia Island of Halmahera who have survived nearly
four years of terror are now dying from malaria. In a village east of
Kao now called the"yellow village" because of the outbreak of
malaria, families burn wood beside their beds to keep the mosquitoes away.
Esther Scarborough, the director of International Friends of Compassion
(IFC) medical clinic reports that the malaria outbreak can be helped by
simply providing mosquito nets. She gave away every net they had. Esther
says, "Prevention is so much better than repeatedly treating these
patients. In that area there is hardly a home that does not have someone
with malaria."
We are asking for help in preventing any more suffering for these Christian
refugees. The cost of a mosquito net is $ 3.00. We could use a thousand
nets to help these families. If you can help, please know that these people
who have suffered the loss of everything need our help now. For the cost
of one latte we can provide long term protection to a family. It doesn't
take much to make a difference to the health and future of a family.
"He who oppresses the poor reproaches his Maker, but he who is gracious
to the needy honors Him." Proverbs 14:31 (NASB)
Please partner with us to relieve the suffering of these villagers.
