August 2010: The Second Children's Home

jien

The last count was 42 children in our care--they range from the newborns and some teenagers. The numbers continue to grow and we have simply outgrown the first Children's Home. The children who are in our care are thrown aways and
orphans. The second home will be the dwelling for the older children.

The concrete frame of the new Children's Home stands in the hot sun waiting to be finished. It sets next to the first home with the playground separating them. It will be the new home of some of the older children like
Iyu and Merna. The rooms will be completed as the funds come in--one room at a time. This is a home that will become a place of growth and hope for these young people. We have some high hopes for them and they need more room.

Desi, the director, does an amazing job of guiding the care of the children. She is dedicated and undoubtedly loves these little ones. Desi has a degree in Early Childhood Development and understands the needs of these children.
She has learning programs and lots of field trips for them. The facility is first class and very adequate for the little children. The challenge was for the older children. We want them to have as normal a life as possible.

Thanks to all of you who have supported our children. They are loved and in a perfect place to reach their potential--many of the children at bi-lingual. There are plans in progress to start a school for these
children. Hendra Pontomudis is leading that effort. He has also opened a blog to share some of the stories of our children. Seven profiles are done and there will be adding more--one at a time. Due to the fact that the
internet is undependable it is hard or near impossible to post photos. You can find the blog on our web-site in the Programs under Children's Home.
