Jonas
Jonas was sitting in a large refugee camp in Bitung, thankful
to be alive. He described how he, along with a number of
other young men, had been captured by a large force of jihad
militia who raided his village.
They were taken to a large courtyard area where their hands
were bound. There they awaited their fate. Would they be
killed or tortured? How could they escape? Jonas said, "I
began to pray with all my heart." They watched their
captors very closely. As if seeking some sort of sick amusement,
the terrorist in charge ordered that the men be tied together,
blindfolded, put on their backs and a bomb placed between
them. They were going to be the entertainment for the day.
The bomb was placed in the middle of the men--their lives
only minutes from ending.
The jihad terrorists moved away to avoid the bomb blast.
Jonas continued to pray for a way out of this terrible situation.
An Indonesian military soldier watched as the young men
waited for their inevitable death. Something compelled him
to step in. He set them free and removed the bomb. Jonas
and his friends were alive. God had answered his prayer.
