Orphanages

Many children are orphans because of the conflict. Four children’s homes in Jakarta house approximately 125 children from Ambon and other Maluku villages. In addition, some parents have sent their children to these homes because it is not safe in their home region. The children are from 5 to 18 years old.

Jakarta OrphanageMeals, lodging, schooling, medical care, and spiritual guidance are provided. The staff in each home gives godly guidance in a loving and nurturing environment.

The children are supported by sponsors at $365 USD per year. A profile of the sponsored child is sent to each sponsor.

In Jakarta, a tour can be arranged to visit the orphanages and meet some of the children and staff. To offer support and wire money please contact Messia at rock@abbalove.or.id

Additionally, IFC supports the work of an orphanage in Tondano which houses 100 children. These children are primarily from Ambon in north Maluku, a region under crisis. Many IFC ministry teams have visited this orphanage and provided support while falling in love with these beautiful children. The orphanage provides great care for the children. Cleanliness, healthy food, quality education and loving guidance are hallmarks of this orphanage.

In August 2003, an IFC team visited the Mephibasheth orphanage in Tomohon where 30 children from various regions of Indonesia receive exemplary care. While the building is substandard, attempts at building a new on have been restricted do due to financial limitations. Currently, a new orphanage remains half-built after two years.
