Restoring Soul and Spirit
The restoration of the complete person is of great concern
to IFC. While one can heal the physical wounds of a broken
body, a deep need for the healing of one's spirit and soul
remains for those who have suffered trauma, terror and great
personal loss.
The
young and the old have inner wounds that only the tenderness
of the Lord Jesus Christ can mend. They provide practical
ministry and offer genuine care and spiritual guidance.
Outreach efforts to the young in the refugee camps have
produced some awesome fruit. Many are following the Lord
with all their hearts. It is encouraging and strengthening
to see a young generation, in the face of great difficulties,
keeping their focus on the Lord Jesus.
In addition, refugee pastors have met weekly for nearly
two years for prayer and encouragement. They are building
strong friendships with one another despite a variety of
religious backgrounds. Unity is the key for the future.
There must be cords of love and respect built among these
leaders. They must be strong in leading their people into
future seasons of healing. Children are ministered to on
a regular basis with Bible School and other programs.
Several
ministry teams from a number of nations have come to bless
these children. With open eyes and hearts hungry for special
attention and ministry, the children drink in the care and
love expressed by the visiting teams. The simple contributions
of balls, games, and stuffed animals mean a great deal to
children who have so little. Such efforts send a message
of care and love.
These meetings are well attended, sometimes by thousands.
The staff leads a time of teaching and instruction in the
scriptures, followed by an opportunity for personal prayer
and ministry. They want to have the Lord touch their lives
and the faith of many grows stronger.
