Update on Yulce
February 26, 2004
I
just got a note from Esther Scarborough, director of the
IFC medical work, and she said she received a call from
a medical organization working with Operation Blessing in
Indonesia and they want to examine Yulce. The region she
is in is very remote and Esther suggested they meet in Manado
(North Sulawesi). Yulce and her mother will travel with
Esther to Manado in a couple days. It is a long boat ride.
Pray for this because we will know more about what can be
done medically for Yulce. Please know this is not a guarantee--it
is only an expert exam--but it is a big step in the right
direction. We will have an expert medical assessment of
her injuries.
Esther has a number of severely injured children she is
concerned about. She saw the chance and asked if she could
bring two other children to Manado for an examination. She
is a woman of wisdom and compassion. She also knows when
to seize the moment. One boy has a broken bone in his leg
sticking through the skin. She said this child has been
that way for a year and would likely get a bad infection
and either lose the leg or even die. The other child has
a very bad cleft pallet. I will include a photo of this
child in the attachments. This apparently is a three for
one deal. I love a God of grace. He always gives us more
than we can imagine.
Please continue to pray for Yulce and these others. We will
know more when we get the evaluation from this surgeon.
